How to Use Looping Stream: Upload a Video and Start on YouTube

The first stream has two control panels. Looping Stream plays the files; YouTube controls the event’s visibility and watch page. Keep both open for the first test. A short video is enough to learn the route. The long programme can wait.

A first test you can finish

Use two short videos with sound, Standard mode and shuffle off. Keep the YouTube event unlisted. Watch file A change to B and B return to A. Then stop the sender and confirm the event has ended. This checks the whole route before a long broadcast.

Sign in and check your plan

On the Looping Stream website, choose Sign in and continue with Google. Open Storage in the dashboard and check the active plan and space available. The plan controls storage and simultaneous streams. Read the current trial allowance before starting: time spent broadcasting uses that allowance, so a test is still a stream. If you already have an account, do not assume signing in again creates another trial. Looping Stream.

Prepare the destination in YouTube Studio

In YouTube Studio, choose Create, then Go live, and create an encoder stream. Enable live access beforehand; first activation can take up to 24 hours. Set the title, description, visibility and audience there. For a test, choose Unlisted and keep its link for checking on another device. Copy the stream key from this event. Never include that key in a tutorial screenshot or chat message. Create a stream with an encoder.

Upload a file, then let preparation finish

In Storage, use Upload and select your video or audio. Choose YouTube in the upload settings and a resolution that suits the source. Fill screen may crop edges; Show full video can add black bars. Check the storage forecast, then Start upload. Keep the page open while a local file transfers. Upload from Google Drive is another route: connect Drive, choose files and Start import; that transfer runs in the background. Upload completion and processing completion are different. Wait until the file is ready.

Choose Standard or AV in Streams

Open Streams. Standard uses a single playlist of prepared videos, including their existing sound. Use it for lessons, interviews and a finished programme. AV uses separate Video and Audio lists: a visual loop in one, music or spoken audio in the other. Select both lists before starting. This is useful when replacing music should not require exporting the animation again. Start with Standard if your video already contains everything.

Build the first playlist

In the newer interface, choose Select files, mark ready files and confirm with Done. The earlier interface uses Select and OK. Arrange the files in playback order. Leave shuffle off for a lesson sequence; use it only when a changing order makes sense. For the first test, select two short files so you can hear a transition and see the end return to the beginning. AV needs the same check for each list.

Add YouTube and press Start

Select YouTube as the platform and paste the key into Key or Stream key. Give the stream a name you can identify in the dashboard. Also set the public title and thumbnail in YouTube Studio. Check that the selected files and key belong to the intended programme, then press Start. Do not press repeatedly while launch is pending. Wait for the stream status, and turn to the YouTube preview.

Check the watch page before leaving

A running status in the dashboard is only half the check. Confirm that YouTube receives the picture and sound. For a scheduled event, wait for the preview and use Go live, unless you deliberately enabled auto-start. Open the watch page on another device, listen through a file change and check visibility. Manage stream settings.

Once broadcasting is confirmed, the cloud sends the files; your browser and personal computer do not need to stay on.

Stop deliberately and keep a test note

Use Stop in Looping Stream; confirm it if a dialog appears. End the event in YouTube Studio as needed and check that both sides show it has ended. Closing the browser is not the stop button. If there was no preview, check the key and event first. If a file is absent from selection, check its readiness and active plan. Record the files, mode and result of the test before building a longer playlist.

A reader’s question: will it start by itself?

On Reddit (2024-06-30), a creator wanted daily four-hour recorded streams with automatic scheduling. Reddit discussion.

Check two separate actions: scheduling the YouTube event and starting the sender. YouTube’s encoder instructions still require an incoming feed. For the workflow above, assign someone to Start in Looping Stream and check Go live in Studio. Do not promise unattended scheduling until the actual sender’s scheduling feature has been configured and tested. Create a stream with an encoder.

Questions

Can I close the browser during upload?

Keep it open for a local file transfer. Google Drive import runs in the background. Once the stream has started and YouTube confirms it, playback runs in the cloud.

Does Start mean the YouTube event is public?

Check its visibility and watch page in YouTube Studio. A scheduled event may still require Go live. Sending video and publishing the event are separate checks.
